I went down to Southern CA this weekend (April 18-20) and I looked at a few places.
El Dorado Events Center: $6,800 out the door, including ceremony
Nice, but the wedding "spot" was on the grass within eyesight of the tent. No flowers, no pretty colors, just grass and a tree. Oh, and another tent to the side (where they store the wedding arch/gazebo).
Long Beach Petroleum Club: $5,300 out the door, including ceremony
I loved the inside (it's an indoor venue), but the wedding "spot" was a cement slab next to a pool outside. Not attractive to the eye. I'm just not a fan of boring cement slabs for a wedding location. haha
Queen Mary:
Let's just say there was an $8,000 MINIMUM on FOOD alone. It's out. lol
As we (Jenny, Malia, my mom, and I) were driving to El Dorado, Jenny pointed out The Grand, on Willow in Long Beach. I *totally* forgot about that place. I looked online when I got home that night and found that their prices are similar to that of El Dorado; they're managed by the same company. I think I'll send my parents that way this week and see what they think. If all is well, I'll see about booking the venue. They have an outside wedding "spot," but it has a tent over in (in case it rains) and there's inside places for receptions. I think it's the best idea yet... and Jenny had it! :) Yay for Jenny! Food would be beef for all, unless you'd like a vegetarian plate. Everything that the El Dorado includes, so does The Grand. It's awesome.
I'm coming down again in June... June 5th to be exact, unless I have another job by that time. Our friends have a gig at THE ROXY!! YAY! Anyone and everyone interested is more than welcome to come and see them live! :)
Again, you'll know more when I know more when it comes to the wedding. :)
