Tomorrow, Peggy (my boss) is sending in a lady that is going to WATCH ME all day. She's going to watch what I do, listen to what I say, see how I interact with the patients, and then critique me and give Peg the "inside scoop." Peggy has basically hired a "Practice Manager" to tell her what's wrong in the office and give her advice as to what she should do. This lady is also available to "guide" and educate me and my co-worker.
Yay. Tomorrow is NOT going to be fun.
Kirksey (my co-worker) and I have decided that we're going to "let go" on this lady. She is here to get our input as to what's going on in the office... so here it is:
1. Peg wants us to call people back 2-3 times to get the "correct" message across.
2. Peg wants us to call people back that came in/had supplements mailed to them to see how their health is.
3. Peg wants us to call people who discontinue automatic refills to see how their health is.
4. Peg wants us to call people who haven't been in for a while 2-3 times and let them know it's been a while and she'd like to see them.
Do you see a pattern? We are harassing our patients, almost. Sure, it's a doctor's office and we need to call our patients to check-in on them, but damn, it's getting excessive. Patients don't want to call during office hours anymore because they're afraid of being bombarded with questions like, "How's your health?" "Why are you canceling?" "Would you like to reschedule?" over and over. It's getting old.
Peggy also wants me to use a script, word for word, whenever I talk to patients. I'm sorry, but there's not a script for EVERYTHING. There is not a script for angry patients that don't want to talk to me on the phone. There is not a script a lot of things...
Oh, and what to do with patients who I've called twice and left messages for and never received a call back? I'll ask her that tomorrow. I'll also be asking her about "The Gunt," our other co-worker, AKA "The Biller." She is always making/receiving personal cell phone calls at the office, including leaving her ringer on at a very high level with a very annoying pitch. She also doesn't know how to take messages or how to water plants, apparently. She doesn't bill correctly and she sends insurance claims to PATIENTS, and not just the patients' claim, but other patients as well. She's horrible at her job. She needs to be canned. But Peg won't do it for whatever reason.
Here's my opinion (and she doesn't have to pay me extra for this):
1. Fire the Gunt.
2. Keep Kirksey at part-time status, for MA and pharmacy purposes.
3. Make me salary at $14/hr. and train me to do billing on Mondays and Thursdays.
4. Hire me a part-time "assistant" for Mondays and Thursdays (1/2 day, each day).
5. Revise scripts to make them less like a script, more like a conversation.
6. STOP NITPICKING EVERYTHING THAT GOES ON WITHIN THE OFFICE!
Simple. Done. Easy.
And no bothersome "shoulder-peering" necessary.

Ugh.
I can't help myself, folks. I'm sorry. Here comes another political rant. I watched the debate tonight. The whole thing. And I've come to ONE decision:
Obama NEEDS to win.
McCain seems like a sore loser already. McCain would attack Obama... Obama would set the record straight... McCain would continue to say the same attack over and over, regardless of what Obama said. McCain told "Joe the plumber" that he's going to have to pay a fee on his health care when 5 SECONDS EARLIER Obama said there was NO FEE. Sheesh, does the old man need hearing aids?!
Now... this is what hit my sore spot. Teaching. Education. As an educated person... someone who has been to college for 6 years to become a teacher (and who still isn't finished), someone who has taken SEVERAL state mandated and standardized tests, someone who has a teaching credential in three different states...
... TO LET A SOLDIER STRAIGHT OUT OF SERVICE BE ALLOWED TO TEACH WITH NO COLLEGE PREPARATION AND NO STATE MANDATED TESTS... is a crime to our children in the current education system.
"We need to encourage programs such as Teach for America and Troops to Teachers where people, after having served in the military, can go right to teaching and not have to take these examinations which -- or have the certification that some are required in some states." ~McCain 10/15/08
In fact, it should be illegal according to No Child Left Behind, which McCain supports and wants to "reform and re-fund," to make it better than before. No Child Left Behind is the ONLY reason why I had to take as many state mandated tests as I did. It's the reason so many people/teachers have had to go back to college to "re-learn" material to continue to teach and to prove their competence as a teacher/educator. Without NCLB, teacher testing would not be as severe as it is today and more stupid teachers would be permitted to teach our children (even though some have managed to slip thru the cracks...).
Now, either McCain has his facts screwed up... or his Troops to Teachers policy is a bunch of bullshit.

Adventures in Housing!
As most of you know by now, WE GOT A HOUSE!
It's a three bedroom, two bath ranch-style house with a 0.41 acre lot (HUGE!) and it has a massive kitchen, big family room with a fireplace, and a semi-garage. After getting the house inspected, we discovered that this place needed more work than what we thought. We need to replace the bathroom floors, we need to repair the bathroom plumbing (it's leaking), and we need to tear down the semi-garage and rebuild it due to a cracked driveway and beetle/bug damage in the actual structure.
The back bedroom was covered in butcher paper that was covered with a glaze. And how did they get the butcher paper on the walls, you might ask? Wallpaper glue. Yay. And the carpet was all stained and smelled funky. This is what we had to look forward to taking down:
Last night, Sam had it in him to take down ALL the brown butcher paper. And with Felicia's help, we have it pretty close to gone. Here are some pictures we took before dinner, keeping in mind that we were peeling down paper until 11pm at night:
Of course, nothing is as easy as it seems, so when Sam started peeling away brown paper that had blue paint attached, he wondered why... and kept peeling. Only to find drywall tape and plaster... and some possible drywall. It was a mess! The blue paint was covering up the drywall- it was weird. There was paper, blue paint, plaster/drywall, more paper, and then the green paint that was on the other walls. Weird. He decided NOT to rip it all down, but to keep it up and fix it. Apparently, looking at the size of the "repair," the back bedroom used to have a sliding glass door in it! They patched it up (poorly) and put in a window! Crazy.
I just can't wait until this back bedroom is DONE and has no more brown paper on it... which should be tonight! YAY! Oh, wait- we aren't painting until the weekend. hehe

Why I hate K-Mart.
1. They don't take your word on prices marked on the shelf (like Target).
I saw a sign that said, "Mars Candy Bars, 2 for $4," and it was right under the fun-sized bags of Three Musketeers. Mmmm... So I thought, "Hey, that's a good price and I can eat one for dessert, like a reward!" I grabbed the bag and checked out. The candy came up as $2.79 and the lady didn't say anything. I told the checker that there was a sign that said 2 for $4. She didn't change the price; she didn't even OFFER to change the price. She walked me over to the return desk and asked another checker about the price. I said, "I know it's only 79 cents, but there was a sign back there." The other checker pulled out the ad and flipped thru it. This lady said, "Well, they're not in the ad. And if they were, they'd be 3 for $5, not 2 for $4," as if that were more expensive or something. (But it's ACTUALLY cheaper, dumbass!) So she wanted me to wait for her to run all the way to the back of the store to check on the price while I stood there, and waited... for 79 cents. I finally said, "Nevermind. Just return them." She didn't want to, but finally did. I offered her 21 cents to make it an even $3 back (I used my debit card) and she had to stand there and do the math. By the time I took out my coin purse, counted out the change and gave it to her, she STILL hadn't figured it out. I left with no chocolate, and VERY pissed off.

GOP Speeches
First of all, let me start by saying... I'm so tired of all of this political crap. I'm tired of the republicans blaming the democrats for all the lies and slander. Blame the media, which, I'm sorry, but Fox News is Republican in nature. I'm tired of the republicans talking shit about the democrats... because, really, who's talking smack at the conventions? Don't use kids to promote your political propaganda unless you want them to be criticized like everyone else in your campaign. Obama learned that the hard way and took his kids out of the spotlight, except for "family moments." It appears as though Palin is learning the hard way as well; however, her daughter is in a commercial on McCain's blog, her kids are everywhere Palin goes, shaking hands, and taking pictures... Political Crap
Personally, I'm getting tired of all the political talk that's been going on. I know why it's happening and I understand that the people have a right to know what's going on, but still- it's getting to be too much at times.
My personal opinion... Palin should NOT be McCain's running mate. I don't think she has the experience needed to be a Vice President. I don't even think she has the experience to be in Washington, personally, but that's just me. She is governor of a state that has fewer people in it than the city of Portland. Sure, it's a lot of land, but there's not a lot of people. She's never been to Washington DC before; she doesn't know what she's getting herself into. What is she going to do with all of her kids? Is she going to take them everywhere she goes? How is she going to take care of Trig? How is she going to raise, support, and encourage her children? I just don't see how this is all possible. Sure, I believe in multi-tasking, but I think that's going to be one hell of a task. Granted, her husband is around to help out around the house and be the primary caregiver, but I think Palin needs to be around as well. They are her kids as well.
I honestly think McCain chose her because:
1. She's a woman.
2. She has a large family.
3. Average moms can relate easily to her; she's a hockey mom.
4. Her oldest son training to go to Iraq.
Think about it... A lot of women wanted to vote for Hillary *simply* because she's a woman and, let's face it, what woman in her right mind didn't want to see a woman President? This is McCain's way of winning the "woman" vote.
On top of it all, Palin has a large family and she's a hockey mom, which makes her easier to relate to for all the homemaker and soccer moms out there.
And if that last group of female voters wasn't enough, Palin's oldest son is going to Iraq soon; all the moms out there that have kids in Iraq will now support her even more because they know what Palin is going through.
But what about the other stuff about Palin... the stuff that's been circling around the internet for the past few days...
1. Palin's daughter, Bristol, is actually Trig's mother.
2. Palin fired and put gag orders on anyone that opposed her running for office.
3. Palin banned books from the public library.
Big issue: Trig. All of the stories about Palin's amniotic fluids leaking and her not going to the doctor's office is insane. The coincidence of her daughter leaving high school for 8 months due to Mono around that time period. How convenient it was that Palin gave birth in a quiet, isolated location that not many people knew about. Better yet, we now know that, currently, the daughter really IS pregnant. Bristol obviously didn't listen to her mom's abstinence message now... why would she have listened before? One way to solve the mystery: DNA test.
Now, I can understand Palin firing all of the people that worked for the previous Governor; she wants people that are loyal to her and her campaign and ideas. However, to put a gag order on those people is ridiculous. Let the people talk, for goodness sake. They have a right to freedom of speech; let people use it.
Banning books? It's not the 1950's anymore. Let people read what others have to say. Again, it's a freedom of speech thing. If Palin can't let people speak freely, read freely, and think freely, she's not upholding the Constitution... something ALL people running for office should uphold.
Not to mention that Palin is Pro-Life. That's a BIG no-no in my book. I'm all for the right to let a woman choose. I'm not pro-abortion, but I am pro-choice. I would never personally have an abortion, but I don't want the right to choose taken away from other women. Every woman is different; what is right for some is not right for others. Palin's pro-life campaign is this: Abstinence until you're ready to start a family. Sure, that works, but in today's society with birth control methods so readily available, I don't see that happening... Especially when her own DAUGHTER can't even follow that idea.
The more I hear about this woman, the LESS I like her. The less I want to know about her. The less respect I have for McCain for choosing her over someone else. There are SEVERAL other woman in Congress that have far more experience than she does... if McCain wanted just the woman vote, I'm sure he could have chosen any of them. But instead, he chose someone that he thought MORE women could relate to, including "Soccer Moms," homemakers, women with large families, women with children in Iraq, and women that have children with disabilities. McCain hit it big time with her... I just hope he doesn't win.

/stress
So I'm sitting here at work... thinking... (ouch)...
I'm thinking about if I have enough money to make it through the month...
I'm thinking I should return all of my crafting goodies that I bought over the weekend so I for sure have enough money to last through the end of the month...
I'm thinking I owe too much on my credit cards and want to pay more every month, but can't...
I'm thinking I can't wait until next month when my new insurance payments are finally caught up so I can start paying $55 a paycheck instead of $110 a paycheck...
I'm thinking how the heck I'm going to be able to afford a mortgage payment every month without wanting to rip all of my hair out due to stress on a daily basis...
I'm thinking I want to know if the home loan is actually going to go through, since today is supposedly the last day for our "type" of loan...
I'm thinking I'm hungry and need to eat!

CSI
I'm addicted. It's sad, but true.
I can't help but turn on the TV to channel 57 (SPIKE TV) as soon as I get home, plop down on the couch, and veg out to some CSI.
Sure, I should be going to the gym on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday nights, but I'd rather watch CSI and they most likely won't let me change the channel once I hit Bally's. Bastards. Either way, I should get my lazy ass off the couch, but I'm happy with my CSI people... it's like Cheers, in a way; I know everyone's name and I'm glad I came to watch. :)
Time for bed... and more CSI!

Bicycles!!
I've come to a conclusion... Bicyclists need to DIE. In a fire. :)
And here's why:
Myth: People riding bikes think they're awesome... and because of this, they don't need to follow the law. They don't even have to follow the same laws as the people who drive cars!
Fact: "In Oregon, a bicycle is a vehicle by law. When riding your bike on a road, you have the same rights and duties as other road users. With a few exceptions, the rules of the road for drivers apply to you."
Myth: It's OK to ride your bike (in the bike lane) going the opposite direction of traffic... You're that awesome.
Fact: "When riding in a bike lane, you are still required to ride in the same direction as the traffic next to you."
Myth: Bike riders are so cool, they ride in packs. It's totally OK to ride side-by-side! You're a bike rider and you're saving the environment! You rock!
Fact: "You and a companion may ride side by side on the road, but only if you don’t impede other traffic. If traffic doesn’t have enough room to pass you safely, ride single file."
Myth: I don't need to stop at stop signs. I'm on a bike. I'm too awesome to stop.
Fact: "Stop at STOP signs and red lights."
Myth: I can make a left hand turn from the bike lane! In fact, I don't even need to signal! Cars shall stop in my presence for I am a bike rider!
Fact: "As you approach the intersection, look over your left shoulder for traffic and, when clear, signal your turn, move over to the left side of the lane (on a two-lane road), or into the left lane or the center turn lane. You should be positioned so cars going straight through can’t pass you on the left. Yield to on-coming cars before turning. Thoughts.
Tonight, I was walking around Target in my red&khaki, on the phone with one hand and a bag of tortilla chips in my other hand.
I was headed down an aisle when a lady asked, "Can you tell me where something is?"
And I looked at her and said, "I'm sorry, I'm not working right now."
And she continued, and asked, "Well, can't you at least tell me where it is?!"
And I said, "I'm not working now. I'm not allowed to help you when I'm not on the clock. I'm sorry."
Now... keep in mind... I'M ON THE PHONE. I HAVE THINGS IN MY HANDS. And when I said I wasn't working, why didn't she just leave me alone??! It's because I was still in my work clothes. Any other person, walking around in the store who was on the phone with things in their hands, she wouldn't have stopped and asked.
A "polite" person would have realized, "Oh, you're not working right now? Ok, sorry I bothered you." But NoooOOOooOOOOooo... She had to ask me anyway where something was. And I bet it was right in front of her stupid face.
I'm bringing a shirt with me to change into from now on. This is ridiculous.

Home Searching!
As most of you know, Sam and I have been looking for a house... since about March or April. We put an offer in on this house ... and it fell through because of our stupid loan agent not doing her part. She waited until the last possible minute to get us the loan and then realized she couldn't pre-qualify us. Dumb woman.
So we keep looking at houses almost every weekend and sometimes during the week. Last night, we visited this house and I fell in love. I'm not sure why (probably the kitchen and the HUGE backyard the pictures don't show), but I did. The kitchen has all new appliances and they're staying. :) heh. The house itself needs a little TLC, as the listing says, but it's not bad TLC like some of the hother houses we've seen. This house needs a little paint, a little hardwood love, wall texture removal, and a new master bathroom... maybe a little sheet rock to make the "garage" truly enclosed so we can eventually put a pool table out there. One thing is for sure... we're going to need to buy a weed whacker and one of those roto-tiller machines for the backyard. It's HUGE (almost a half acre) and it's full of weeds. Other than that... I think we're sold.

Spazz!
Apparently, Odin is a spazz. In fact, last night, he decided to play with the shower curtain. He ran into the bathroom, played with the shower curtain and ran out. Ran back in, huffing and puffing, and then ran out. He kept going back and forth... so I ran and got my camera. Of course, he had gotten a little tired by that point, so I got what I could. But I could only get so much before my camera died... stupid battery! I think I need a new camera... heh ;)
(Sorry it's so dark... it's always so dark when I upload it, but so much lighter on my computer!)
Good thing- you can hear him meow. And imagine that like 10x over and over and over... That's what he's like when it's food time.
Notice at the end of the spazz attack, Grimm comes into the bathroom. He wants to know what all the commotion is about. He's wondering why Odin is freaking out and is probably thinking, "It's just a bathroom, dummy!"

I'm sitting here at work...
As my title says, I really am sitting here at work... and I am thinking...
My co-worker told me that a typical human has about 10,000 thoughts a day. A DAY.
That seems a little crazy to me.
So I thought I might make a short tally of what I think throughout the day... and see if I get anywhere near 10,000. :) I'm such a dork, I know.
My tummy feels icky.
I think I'm hungry.
My boss is slowly losing her mind.
Stupid charts.
Wow, only 800 calories that day?
I wish.
I don't wanna file papers in charts today.
Ok. Nevermind.
There is NO WAY I can type everything I'm thinking.
I guess my co-worker is right.
Too many thoughts in a day to keep track of.
